What God Thinks When You Are Not Feeling Good Enough

heart in beach sand on What God Thinks When You're Not Feeling Good Enough

Do you ever wonder what God thinks when you’re not feeling good enough? You know what I mean. You just yelled at your kids, your boss is on your case for something, and dang, but you’ve done “that thing” again, which you swore you’d never repeat.

You feel like the scumbag of your world and wonder if God will ever want to talk to you. He will.

He’s already thinking more thoughts about you than there are grains of beach sand. And his thoughts aren’t in the scumbag category (Psalm 139:17-18).

Here’s what God thinks when you’re not feeling good enough

Why are you feeling that you are not good enough? I don’t hold your sins against you. I accept you. I don’t condemn you. (2 Cor. 5:18-19; Rom. 8:1).

You are my workmanship, and I’m not done with my work yet. I’m making you into the image of my son, Jesus (Eph. 2:10: Rom. 8:28).

I’ve called you, and I’ve already made you “good enough.” Even when you make mistakes, I’m working something good in you through the experience. In fact, you are reflecting my glory right now, even though you don’t feel it (Romans 8:28-30; 2 Cor. 3:18).

Sure, you blew it, but I did not slip-up when I created you. All your days have been written in my Book. This one did not catch me by surprise (Psalm 139:15-16).

I have a specially designed destiny for you that will expand my kingdom on earth, bring you hope, and a prosperous future (Jer. 1:7,10; 29:11).

Now get back to loving and living life. I’m so enjoying the experience of living it with you (Rom. 8:38-39).

You’ll want to have it handy the next time you’re not feeling good enough.

So, now you know what God thinks—let me hear your thoughts! What do you think about when you’re not feeling good enough? Have you been listening to lies in your head? What do you do to counter the lies?

Have a great weekend filled with God musings, Susan

    Are we actually good enough?

  6. Michele

My feeling not good enough is homeschooling my son. He graduates in one week. He is a fine young man. He has accomplished so many things. We are very proud of him. I just feel I didn’t teach him enough or hold him accountable enough. I know this doesn’t make sense. He is a smart kid, but did I teach him well and did we finish strong? I don’t know. It’s too late to go back , but I always feel like….did I do enough with him!

Actually, Michele, it makes perfect sense. Been there, done that. I homeschooled 6 kids and felt those feelings when each one of them graduated. Bottom line… God didn’t assign you this job of homeschooling with the expectation that you’d be perfect at it, get it all right, or do everything your son needed. That’s not your job!

Your job was to love your son and let him watch you make your mistakes and see that you didn’t have to be perfect at homeschooling to help him graduate. His education will mainly be in the school of life and you’ve taught him that he doesn’t have to be perfect to succeed or to be loved by God and the most important people in his life, his family. Well done, Mom! You did it exactly right!

Thank you Susan. I needed to read this. My life is worthless and so painful.

  8. Corban Tshabangu

I might have been worse before reading this. Feeling like I’ve created alot of damage, like all i have in me is to hurt people’s emotions. But i feel alot better now. The storm has reduced but I’m not out of the woods yet. I have to chase the heart of God. To dedicate more time with Him. I might have not understood the heat and tension in my mind but I am ready to change.

It sounds like you are suffering a lot, Corban. I will be praying the Holy Spirit will call your mind and emotions and bring peace to your experience with the Lord and others.
