How to talk to yourself when you get discouraged

Ever get discouraged? Let's face it. The biggest enemy of us is us. We talk ourselves out of victory in Christ and talk ourselves into emotional defeat more times than we care to admit.

At least I do.

I've served people long enough in ministry to KNOW that you do too. So don't pull that "Whaaat?? I don't know what you're talking about, Susan" stuff on me.

We've got a problem. It's called discouragement. And most of us get discouraged way too much. You want your legacy to be one of joy, right? Like in "the JOY of the Lord is your strength" and "for the JOY set before Him, Jesus endured the shame and the cross...." THAT kind of joy.To have that kind of joy we have to turn our self-talk around from talking like our old self to having a conversation with the Holy Spirit via our new self. I know that sounds like a tongue twister, but really... it's quite simple.

How to talk to yourself when you get discouraged

Yesterday I did a 3 minute Facebook Live video on how to talk to yourself when discouragement sits chattering on your shoulder.

Let's change how we handle discouragement. I'd like the joy of the Lord to be my reputation rather than be known as the Queen of the Pity Party. How about you?

(Yes, I see the garbage container behind me in the video. My bad. Not good "staging." However... I refused to get discouraged when I finished the video and realized I had just shown off my garbage to the world on Facebook. Instead, I laughed.)Want to see more of these short videos?
